Solo Karaoke Kingsway: More Than Just Singing 🎤🍴

When most people think of karaoke, food probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. But at Solo Karaoke in Burnaby, you don’t just get a night full of music—you also get a full dining experience that pairs perfectly with singing the night away.

🍗 Taiwanese Appetizers Worth Sharing

Deep Fried Salt & Pepper Popcorn Chicken and Taiwanese Kimchi Fried Tofu - Solo Karaoke

We started off with Deep Fried Salt & Pepper Popcorn Chicken and Taiwanese Kimchi Fried Tofu—both packed with flavour and perfect for snacking in between songs. Solo Karaoke offers plenty of other appetizers too, but the best part is that you can also go beyond bar snacks and actually enjoy a full meal, including Traditional Taiwanese Marinated Pork Rice 🍚 and even Spicy Beef Shank Dry Noodles 🍜

🍹 Mocktails & Teas to Keep You Singing

Of course, no karaoke night is complete without drinks. Solo recently launched a special mocktail menu, featuring:

  • Strawberry Butterfly Fizz 🍓🦋
  • Rose Yuzu Fizz 🌹🍊
  • Zesty Grape Tea 🍇
Strawberry Butterfly Fizz, Rose Yuzu Fizz, Zesty Grape Tea at Solo Karaoke

Our favourite was the grape tea—refreshing, lightly sweet, and perfect for keeping your voice in shape between songs.

Beyond mocktails, Solo has something for everyone. From icy slushes to cozy hot teas, you’ll find drinks to match your vibe. We ordered the Chrysanthemum Longan Honey Tea, Mango Slush, Taro Green Milk Tea, and Brown Sugar Black Milk Tea. The hot tea especially hit the spot after hours of singing.

Karaoke Vibes 🎶✨

Food aside, the karaoke experience itself was just as impressive. The atmosphere is moody and immersive, perfect for setting the stage. Their song selection is huge, and thanks to their YouTube app integration, you can even sing newer tracks that aren’t on traditional karaoke machines yet.

And we have to mention the service—the staff were incredibly attentive, offering recommendations and making sure our table had everything we needed to keep the night going.

Final Verdict

👉 Whether you’re here for the Taiwanese comfort food, the creative mocktails, or just to sing your heart out, Solo Karaoke in Burnaby is definitely more than just a place to sing—it’s a full night out.

Sushi Mura Richmond Review: Fresh Sashimi, Creative Rolls, and Instagram-Worthy Presentation 🍣✨

Sushi Mura is a go-to spot for sushi lovers across the Lower Mainland, with multiple locations serving up fresh, flavourful Japanese fare. On our latest visit, we stopped by the Richmond branch, and it was everything we hoped for—and more.

What We Tried 🍱

We ordered a variety of dishes to get a real taste of Sushi Mura’s menu:

  • Seafood Salad
  • Assorted Tempura
  • Dynamite Roll
  • Chopped Scallop Roll
  • Smoked Salmon Cream Cheese Roll
  • Negitoro Hand Cone
  • Deluxe Assorted Sashimi

The Seafood Salad 🥗 is a standout deal, loaded with chopped sashimi and priced at just $14.50—perfect for starting your meal or enjoying as a light option. The tempura is golden, crispy, and satisfying 🍤. Out of the rolls, our favorite was the Smoked Salmon Cream Cheese Roll 🧀, which perfectly balances smoky salmon with creamy cheese. The Deluxe Assorted Sashimi 🥶 is always a must-order: it comes with dry ice for a dramatic presentation, features 26 pieces of daily fresh-cut sashimi, and is perfect for sharing—or photographing for Instagram. The other rolls and hand cone are fresh, flavorful, and round out the meal nicely.

Pho 37 Expands to Commercial Drive with New Location 🍜

East Van is about to get a taste of one of Metro Vancouver’s most beloved Vietnamese restaurants. Pho 37 has confirmed it will be opening a brand-new location on Commercial Drive, taking over the space formerly occupied by The Fish Counter at 1818 Commercial Dr.

The Fish Counter quietly closed its Commercial Drive shop at the end of June, leaving locals wondering what would move in. Now, signage on the storefront has revealed the answer: pho is coming to The Drive.

A Growing Vietnamese Staple in Metro Vancouver 🇻🇳

Pho 37 first opened its doors in Richmond’s Ironwood Plaza in 2014, before expanding to Union Square in 2018 and later to Robson Street in Vancouver. Today, the chain is known for serving up authentic Vietnamese comfort food in a casual, bustling setting — perfect for everything from quick lunches to family dinners.

Their menu covers all the classics, including:

  • Vietnamese Beef Carpaccio – thinly sliced beef, lightly seasoned and bursting with flavor.
  • Special Beef Noodle Soup – their signature pho with rich broth and tender beef cuts.
  • Charbroiled Lemongrass Pork Chop on Rice – perfectly grilled pork with a fragrant lemongrass marinade.
  • Vietnamese Sandwich (Banh Mi) – crispy baguette stuffed with savory fillings and fresh herbs.

In addition to strong word-of-mouth, Pho 37 has earned accolades like “Best Vietnamese” in the Richmond News A-List Awards and recognition as a finalist in the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards.

What to Expect on The Drive 🌿

The new Commercial Drive spot will mark Pho 37’s fourth location in Metro Vancouver, and their second in the city of Vancouver. While official details like the exact opening date and menu updates are still under wraps, their website currently lists October 8, 2025 as the target opening day.

Judging by the space (similar in size to their Ironwood location), guests can expect Pho 37’s tried-and-true offerings: big bowls of steaming pho, hearty rice plates, and all the Vietnamese favourites the restaurant has become known for.

Goodbye Fish, Hello Pho 🐟➡🍜

The address may be the same, but the vibe will be completely different. Before Pho 37’s arrival, the space housed The Fish Counter (which continues to operate on Main Street and in North Vancouver) and, for more than a decade before that, The Cannibal Café. Now, The Drive is about to welcome a fresh chapter filled with the comforting aromas of broth, herbs, and noodles.

Pho 37 – Coming Soon
1818 Commercial Dr, Vancouver, BC V5N 4A5

Stay tuned for updates on the grand opening — and in the meantime, you can satisfy your pho cravings at their Richmond or Robson Street locations.
