If you’ve been following the saga of the old Bubble Waffle Cafe spot at Parker Place, you know that unit has had a rough run lately—closing down after just three months. But a new face has arrived to try and break the streak: Toishan Fei Mui.

They specialize in shredded chicken rice plates, and honestly, the flavour options sound pretty legit. We’re talking everything from a classic signature style to Black Truffle, Ginger & Green Onion, and even a Wasabi version for the brave.

The Parker Place Price Gap

Here’s where things get interesting. Toishan Fei Mui is entering a food court legendary for like $12 meal sets. In a place where “cheap eats” is the gold standard, their pricing feels a bit… bold.

  • The Base: A signature shredded chicken rice plate starts at $14.99.
  • The Combo: If you want to add a daily soup or a drink, you’re looking at $17.99.

Spending an extra $3 just to get a drink feels a little steep, especially when you’re already pushing the $20 mark for a food court lunch. While it’s nice to see everything technically stay under twenty bucks, it’s definitely on the high end for this specific plaza.

Can They Break the Curse?

Competition at Parker Place is fierce. You’ve got heavy hitters all around, and as we saw with the previous tenants, the “grace period” for new shops is incredibly short.

The shredded chicken looks great, and the unique flavours like black truffle might be enough to draw a crowd, but will people pay the premium?

What do you think? Is $18 for a “Signature” rice plate meal the new normal, or are you sticking to the cheaper OG stalls? Let us know over on Instagram!
