If you’re a Metrotown regular, your post-work dinner options just got a serious upgrade—and we finally have a date for the Fortune Katsu opening.

We’ve been keeping a close eye on the old Sushi Toki unit, and the wait is almost over. The owners of Fortune Katsu shared some inside info with the BiteBuddy team: they are officially opening on March 24.

That’s less than a week away, and since they’re literally steps from the SkyTrain turnstiles, it’s basically a 30-second dash to a plate of crispy pork.

The $23 Katsu Mission

They’re focusing on full meal sets, which is perfect if you’re looking for a “one and done” dinner before heading home. Based on the menu they’ve posted at the door, prices are looking pretty fair for the area:

  • The Classics: Pork Loin Katsu Curry sets start at $23.
  • The Combos: If you can’t decide, the Tenderloin Medallions & Ebi Fry combo set sits at $26.50.
  • The Custom Build: They’ll also have a la carte options if you just want to add a little something extra to your tray.
Fortune Katsu Menu

Espresso + Fruit Juice?

One of the most interesting things we spotted on the menu was their Fruit Americanos. It’s a mix of espresso and fruit juice—definitely a trendy move for 2026. If you’re tired of your basic latte, this might be the refreshing caffeine kick you didn’t know you needed.

Right in the Middle of the Action

Fortune Katsu is opening up right beside the upcoming Chill Plate Foodie Market, which we’ve been tracking for a while now. Between these two, this little stretch of Beresford Street is quickly becoming a major food hub for commuters.

Fortune Katsu Opening

The signage is currently being installed as we speak, and while their website is still “coming soon,” we’re just happy to have a concrete opening date to look forward to.

What do you think? Are you marking March 24 on your calendar for that Curry Katsu, or are you just here for the Fruit Americano?
