If you have walked past Crystal Mall this week, you probably noticed a crowd that wasn’t there before.
The legendary Money Foods Enterprises has officially opened its second location, bringing its famous Chinatown BBQ to Burnaby. Even though it has been a week since the grand opening, the hype shows no signs of slowing down. On a random Thursday at 3:00 PM, the line was literally out the door and wrapping around the hallway.

Grand Opening Deal: 10% Off
To celebrate their arrival at Crystal Mall, Money Foods is currently offering 10% off for their grand opening. While there is no official end date posted for the discount, it’s a great incentive to join the queue and stock up on their signature meats.
A Chinatown Legend Expands
For those who don’t know, Money Foods is a staple of Vancouver’s Chinatown. Known for their traditional Chinese BBQ—think succulent roasted pork (char siu), crispy roasted pork belly (siu yuk), and perfectly seasoned roast duck—they have built a massive following over the years.
This new spot at Crystal Mall marks their second-ever location, and it’s clear that the Burnaby community has been waiting for this expansion.

The Scene at Crystal Mall
We tried to drop by for a proper look at the new interior, but the sheer volume of customers made it nearly impossible to get inside. The entrance is currently decked out in vibrant floral arrangements from well-wishers, marking a very successful first week in business.
The fact that people are willing to stand in a long line during the mid-afternoon “off-hours” says everything you need to know about the quality here. Crystal Mall is already a destination for great food, but adding a heavy hitter like Money Foods is a total game-changer for the second floor.

What to Order (If You Can Get In)
If you are brave enough to tackle the line, most regulars will tell you to go for the Roasted Pork or the BBQ Duck. Their meats are known for being consistently fresh and flavourful, which is exactly why the Chinatown original has stayed so popular for so long.
Between the massive shifts we’ve seen recently at Lansdowne Mall and the recent closures on Alexandra Road, it is great to see a local business seeing this kind of explosive growth.
