If you’ve been near the south end of CF Richmond Centre lately, it’s looking less like a mall and more like a whole new city. With the new entrance finally open and that massive underground parkade adding 785 free spots (bless), the upgrades are definitely making life easier.

But let’s talk about the real reason we’re here: the food. The new Park Road development is basically turning into a “greatest hits” lineup of our favourite spots.

Here is everything you need to know about the heavy hitters moving into Richmond’s most anticipated new food hub.

New restaurants at CF Richmond Centre

1. Breka Bakery & Cafe (24/7 Comfort)

This is easily the opening we’re most hyped for. Breka is finally bringing its 24-hour magic to Richmond. As someone who has made far too many late-night trips downtown just for their cheddar sticks and chocolate dip cookies, having an outpost right at the mall is a game-changer. Whether it’s a 7:00 AM coffee or a 3:00 AM pastry run, Richmond is finally getting its 24/7 community hub.

2. Marugame Udon (The Global Giant)

Right next door to Breka, the world’s most famous Sanuki-style udon chain is moving in. Marugame Udon is known for its open-kitchen “theatre” where you can watch the noodles being freshly pressed and boiled before moving down the cafeteria-style line to pick your tempura. Given the massive lineups at their downtown Vancouver location, expect this to be the busiest spot on Park Road.

We were actually able to sneak a quick peek inside the unit this week, and honestly? It’s still looking completely empty. The hype is already here but it looks like it might still be a little while before you’ll be able to grab a tray and slide down the tempura line.

3. Bigway Hot Pot (The Richmond Legend)

And sitting right beside Marugame… yup, another Bigway Hot Pot. At this point, we have to ask: how many Bigways do we actually need in Richmond? This will be their third major location in the city. While we love the DIY “weigh-and-pay” model and the free ice cream, Bigway is starting to feel like the Starbucks of Richmond hot pot. They’re everywhere!

4. Kokoro Tokyo Mazesoba (The Strategic Move)

In a bit of a surprise move, Ironwood Kokoro has officially closed its doors after only being open since December 2023. They’ve decided to jump ship to this new Richmond Centre location for better foot traffic. This comes right on the heels of that wild Kokoro drama in Kerrisdale last month, where the brand basically “divorced” a franchisee overnight. If you missed that tea, check out our deep dive on the Kerrisdale fallout here.

5. UG Tea (High-Tech Brewing)

Located just through the newly developed mall entrance is UG Tea (Unique Green). This brand is a massive deal in Taiwan and is famous for using “AI-powered” brewing machines that can finish a drink in about seven seconds. It’s their first official foray into the Canadian market, and it’s a perfect fit for a mall that is trying to position itself as a high-tech, modern destination.

Is RC the New Foodie Hub?

With the new towers rising and the “Restaurant Row” on Park Road finally taking shape, CF Richmond Centre is clearly trying to move beyond being just a shopping mall. It’s becoming a legitimate dining destination that might actually give the Alexandra Road food strip a run for its money.

Between the 24/7 convenience of Breka, the global hype of Marugame, and the reliable comfort of Bigway, the south end of the mall is about to be very busy (and very delicious). We’re just glad those 785 new parking spots are there to handle the crowds!
