The food landscape inside Lansdowne Centre is experiencing a massive face-lift, and its food court is about to get a lot more fragrant.

Just two months after the 4.5-star Japanese stall Katte suddenly went dark, a brand-new tenant has already claimed the prime location. Temporary hoarding has gone up around the unit, revealing that a new concept called Roastory Asian BBQ is officially moving in.

What to Expect on the Menu

Located directly next to the perpetually busy Grill King, Roastory is setting up to bring classic Cantonese-style comfort food to the mall. While a formal menu hasn’t dropped yet, the teaser graphics and English translations plastered across the construction boards give us a very clear picture of what’s cooking.

Diners can expect a traditional siu mei (Cantonese roast meats) lineup, featuring pictures of glossy Char Siu (BBQ pork), crispy Sui Yuk (roasted pork belly), classic marinated chicken, and deep-brown BBQ roast duck.

Surprisingly, Lansdowne has long been one of the few major Asian-centric shopping hubs in Richmond without a dedicated, hanging-meat BBQ counter. While spots like Burnaby’s Crystal Mall feature multiple stalls competing for the best crackling pork belly, Lansdowne shoppers previously had to leave the mall to get their fix. A quick, heavy box of BBQ meats over rice is the ultimate food court anchor, making this a highly logical addition to the floor.

A Food Court in Transition

The arrival of Roastory is part of a much larger, rapid transformation happening across the entire mall. Lansdowne is aggressively shifting its dining strategy toward high-volume, established concepts and modern franchises.

Right inside the exact same food court footprint, the massive Hong Kong breakfast icon One Cafe Lansdowne is still heavily gearing up to open its fourth lower mainland branch. Just steps away, national beverage franchise Freshly Squeezed is actively building out its massive juice and bubble tea bar in the old My Coffee corner.

Between these major projects and recent shakeups like the sudden Datang Hot Pot closure nearby, Lansdowne’s casual dining grid is becoming a massive hotspot for local foodies. We don’t have an exact opening date for Roastory Asian BBQ just yet, but the branding looks completely finalized, meaning the meat hooks should be filling up soon.
