If you’ve been craving that customizable, Hong Kong-style noodle experience, a new player just entered the Richmond scene. YouNMi Rice Noodles (a cute play on “You and Me”) officially soft opened on March 23, taking over the space formerly occupied by Rice Cake Master on Sexsmith Road.
The “YouNMi” Concept: Total Freedom
The name in Chinese is 有米 (Yǒu Mǐ), which technically means “having rice,” but it’s often used to describe someone who is “rich” or successful. In this case, it seems to refer to a richness of flavour and a stomach full of noodles!
Unlike Yunshang or Meetrice, which focus on pre-set “Crossing the Bridge” style bowls, YouNMi is leaning into the Tam Jai model. It’s all about the order form—you tick off exactly what you want, how spicy you want it, and which broth speaks to you.
The Breakdown:
Base Price: $15.99 for a bowl with two toppings included.
The Toppings: Choose from 27 options, ranging from beef slices and sausages to more unique picks like minced pork and radish. Extra toppings are $3.00 each.
The Broths: 5 soup bases are available, including a Superior Broth, Tomato, and a Hong Kong Style Spicy & Sour.
Spice Levels: Mild, Moderate, or Hot.

Soft Opening Intel
The shop has a bright, modern vibe with “Have a Rice Day :)” signs—definitely built for the Instagram crowd. But if you’re planning to visit this week, keep these “soft opening” rules in mind:
- Payment: It is STRICTLY CASH ONLY for the first week while they get their systems running.
- Hours: They are currently open 11:00 AM – 6:30 PM.
- Location: 2132-3779 Sexsmith Road (Continental Shopping Centre).
We’re excited to see a spot that gives us this much control over the bowl. It’s a great addition to the mall, especially since we’ve been seeing so many closures elsewhere in Richmond lately.
