This Privacy Policy applies specifically to the BiteBuddy Restaurant App, available for Android tablets. The app is used by restaurant staff to manage orders, print receipts, and communicate with customers. BiteBuddy Inc. (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates this app and acts as the data controller for business user accounts.
1. Information We Collect
- Account Information: Restaurant name, contact email, and phone number for authentication and support.
- Device Information: Device ID, model, and system logs for app stability and debugging.
- Operational Data: Order details and timestamps for order management.
- Bluetooth Information: Used only to detect and connect to ESC/POS receipt printers. No location or personal data is collected via Bluetooth.
2. How We Use the Information
- To authenticate restaurant accounts and manage access.
- To display and process customer pickup orders.
- To print receipts and update order status.
- To monitor app performance and fix technical issues.
3. Permissions
The app requests Bluetooth and Location permissions for the sole purpose of discovering and connecting to compatible ESC/POS receipt printers. On certain older Android versions, location permission is technically required for Bluetooth device discovery. However, the app does not collect, store, transmit, or use any location data for tracking or analytics purposes.
All Bluetooth and location operations are user-initiated within the printer connection settings screen. No background scanning or location sharing occurs.
4. Scope of Use
This app is designed exclusively for pre-approved restaurant partners under a direct service agreement with BiteBuddy Inc. It is not publicly available for general users or customers. Only authorized business accounts issued by BiteBuddy can access the app. Accordingly, this policy focuses on operational and technical data used to support those business functions, not consumer data.
5. Account & Data Deletion
Restaurant users can delete their accounts within the app under Settings → Account → Delete Account. Alternatively, they may submit a deletion request via our online form at https://bitebuddy.ca/privacy/delete-account.
When we receive a valid request, we permanently delete or de-identify all associated personal information, except where retention is required by law (e.g., tax, security, or fraud prevention). We retain proof of the request and response for compliance tracking.
6. Data Sharing
- Stripe: Payment processing and transaction reporting.
- Firebase Crashlytics: App stability monitoring and crash diagnostics.
- Hosting Providers: Secure hosting of APIs and encrypted data storage.
All third parties are bound by agreements that ensure adequate data protection under applicable laws.
7. Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), limited access by role, and secure storage via the app’s encrypted local storage. Staff credentials are hashed and never stored in plain text.
8. Retention
We keep user account and operational data only as long as needed for order management or as required by law. Logs and crash data are retained for up to 12 months, after which they are automatically deleted or anonymized.
9. Children & Families
This app is intended for restaurant use only and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from minors.
