Opening a cafe in Richmond is a bold move in 2026, but doing it while the whole world watches? That’s next-level.
If you’ve walked past the old Pokey Okey spot on Anderson Road lately, you’ve probably noticed the bright orange bowls are gone. In their place, a new dream is taking shape: Daydreamers by Cafe 33.
Out with the Poke, In with the Matcha
First, a quick housekeeping note for the poke fans: Pokey Okey hasn’t disappeared! They’ve officially relocated to a “mini food hall” inside the Paramount building (across from Richmond Centre), sharing space with Oishinoya and Nonbiri.
But back to the new kid on the block. Daydreamers by Cafe 33 is taking over the 8060 Anderson Road unit, and they aren’t just serving coffee. Their menu is shaping up to be a dessert lover’s paradise, specializing in:
- Authentic Vietnamese Coffee
- Artisanal Gelato
- Ceremonial Grade Matcha
- Specialty Sweets

A Journey Documented: Celeste’s YouTube Series
What makes this opening unique is the transparency. The owner, Celeste, is documenting every single step of the “Daydreamers” build-out on her YouTube channel (Celeste connects).
In her first episode (which is out now), she gets incredibly real about the life experiences that led her here—from travelling and trying new things to navigating a big breakup. You can actually watch her taking down the old Pokey Okey decor and starting the literal “ground up” build of her shop.
We dropped by the shop recently, and it was honestly so cool to see the hard work from her YouTube video manifest in person. You can see the progress clearly: the walls have been redecorated, the cabinets have a fresh coat of paint, and there’s a brand-new counter installed that wasn’t even in the first video!

We don’t have an official opening date yet, but we’ll be checking back frequently. In the meantime, go check out Celeste’s first video and follow the journey!
Daydreamers joins a massive list of new spots opening in Richmond this spring including Chengdu Noodle, and One Cafe (Lansdowne Centre).
