There’s something special about a neighbourhood pizza shop.
Not the giant fast food chains where slices sit under heat lamps all day, but the smaller local spots — the kind of place students stop by after class or office workers sneak away to during lunch breaks. The kind of place that feels connected to the neighbourhood around it.
That’s exactly the vibe at Did’s Pizza, a small downtown Vancouver pizza spot tucked just a short walk from Granville Station.

Getting There (Don’t Drive)
Honestly, parking downtown is expensive enough these days that it’s probably not worth driving here unless you absolutely need to.
Your best bet is:
- Expo Line → Granville Station
- Canada Line → Vancouver City Centre Station
From there, it’s just a short walk.
The Vibe: Small Shop, Big Personality
Right when you walk in, you can immediately tell this isn’t some generic pizza chain.
The walls are covered in photos, there’s a giant mural in the back, and the whole space has that slightly chaotic but charming neighbourhood energy that a lot of downtown spots have lost over the years.

It’s a small shop:
- A few seats near the window
- Two tiny tables inside
- Limited seating overall
- If you’ve got time, take a look at the decor on their walls, pretty interesting stuff
But honestly, pizza like this almost feels better eaten outside anyway. Grab a slice and walk around downtown or head to a nearby park.
The owner is also genuinely fun to talk to. During our visit we ended up chatting about languages, food, and pizza recommendations, which added a lot to the experience.
The Pizza
There are usually a handful of freshly made pizzas available by the slice.

Current pricing:
- Margherita — $3.75
- Pepperoni — $4.50
- Mushroom — $4.50
- Pesto — $4.50
- Prestigiosa — $5.00
Combo pricing:
- 1 slice + water — $5.50
- 2 slices + water — $10
- 3 slices + water — $12
One small tip though — unless you really need bottled water, I’d probably just order individual slices instead. I kind of wish the combos came with soda instead, especially since you can buy drinks separately for $2.25 anyway.
This review is also the first part of a larger series we’re working on covering value food spots around Metro Vancouver. From cheap pizza slices to affordable pho and hidden lunch specials, we’ll be building a full guide featuring some of the best budget-friendly eats across the city.
Pepperoni Pizza
The pepperoni slice was surprisingly balanced.
One thing I noticed immediately was how not greasy the pizza was. The pepperoni also wasn’t overwhelmingly salty like some fast food pizza chains where it feels like the meat was dipped into the ocean before serving.

The crust itself had a really nice texture:
- Crispy on the outside
- Soft on the inside
And because the slice is relatively thin, the balance between dough, sauce, cheese, and toppings works really well.
When we visited shortly after opening, there was already only one pepperoni slice left, which probably tells you everything you need to know about what sells fastest here.
Pesto Pizza (Their Most Popular)
The owner told us the pesto pizza is their best seller, and honestly, I get why.
They definitely don’t skimp on the cheese, and the pesto flavour comes through strongly without overpowering the slice. If you already like pesto, this one’s an easy recommendation.

Free Cheese & Seasonings
After heating up your slice, the owner will actually offer extra grated cheese for free, which is a nice touch if you’re a cheese person.
There are also self-serve seasonings available at the counter so you can customize your slices a bit further.

They’ve Got Pasta Too
Apart from pizza, they also serve pasta dishes including:
- Spaghetti Bolognese — $16.50
- Linguine Pesto — $17.50
- Fettuccine Alfredo — $17.50
- Penne Arrabiata — $14.50
- Penne Salsa Rosa — $16.50
- Linguine Vongole — $18.50
- Penne Carbonara — $18.50
We didn’t try the pasta during this visit, but it’s nice to see more substantial options available beyond slices.

Final Thoughts
There wasn’t necessarily anything revolutionary about the pizza at Did’s Pizza — but honestly, that’s kind of the point.
This place succeeds at being exactly what a neighbourhood pizza shop should be:
- Simple
- Affordable
- Friendly
- Full of character
Yes, you’ll pay slightly more than a giant chain pizza spot, but what you’re really paying for is:
- Fresh slices
- Local atmosphere
- Personality
- A downtown experience that still feels human
And sometimes that’s worth more than saving a couple dollars. Looking for more Vancouver food spots to try? Check out some of our other recent Metro Vancouver restaurant reviews while we continue building out our affordable eats guide.
We originally discovered Did’s Pizza while filming our YouTube video exploring 5 different restaurants serving affordable meals for around $10 in Vancouver. Best for:
- Quick downtown lunch
- Casual pizza slices
- Local Vancouver food spots
- Grab-and-go meals near Granville Station
Would we come back?
Yeah — especially for the pesto slice.
