If you trust everything you read on the internet, Me Coffee & Tea over on No. 3 Road is currently open, thriving, and ready to shake up a fresh batch of brown sugar pearls or bubble waffles for you.

But if you actually pull up to the bubble tea joint, you’re going to find a very different, slightly eerie reality.

The Ultimate Magic Trick

We dropped by their location at 6068 Number 3 Rd #130 this week, expecting the usual café vibes. Instead, we were met with the ultimate retail magic trick: the entire store has been completely wiped clean.

When a restaurant closes down, they usually leave a messy paper trail—maybe a taped-up note on the door thanking customers, or a delayed “renovation” sign. Not here. Me Coffee & Tea didn’t just lock the doors; they evacuated.

Peeking through the glass, there isn’t a single piece of evidence left behind that a café ever existed here. The tables and chairs are gone. The kitchenware has been completely cleared out. The counters are bare. It is literally just an empty shell of concrete and drywall.

The Digital Ghost

The strangest part about this sudden disappearance is their digital footprint. As of right now, their Google Business Profile still proudly states that they are open for business. If you aren’t local and you try to map your way there for a midday caffeine fix, you’re going to get catfished by a ghost listing.

We don’t know the exact behind-the-scenes drama that led to the sudden exit. Whether it was the classic Richmond story of an expiring lease, rising overhead costs, or the fierce competition on No. 3 Road, the team packed up the entire operation under the cover of darkness.

The Food Hub Shakes Up Again

It’s just another reminder of how insanely fast the local food grid is moving this season. Between the massive hype of new spots like Time Out Market opening to packed lines, to the sudden shock of storefronts like Sushi Han being the latest “drive thru” spot (literally), you truly never know what a storefront will look like from week to week.

We’re sad to see another low-key bubble tea spot bite the dust. If you happen to know the owners or have the inside scoop on what’s taking over unit #130 next, drop the tea over on instagram!
